Signal (#1),1989, Griffin-McGear Gallery, NYC

Small room is lit entirely by black light. A 24´´ ball painted with phosphorescent paint, hovers on a jet of air. Imbedded in wall, a video of artist's hand opens and closes in slow motion. Viewers may enter the room and disturb the ball, it always returns to center, over its column of air. This piece marks Hardesty's first use of the spherical form.
