If (#2 ) 1989, Germans Van Eck Gallery, NYC

4´-diameter sphere has no visible means of attachment to wall. Inside ball is a large artist-made speaker that rumbles powerfully at borderline sub-audible levels. The source of deep base notes are particularly difficult to locate. This prompts visitors to touch the sphere to find out if indeed it is the source. The sphere is covered with "unsealed" graphite, which comes off on visitors fingers.

The candle at right is replaced every 2 hours by gallery staff. The wax is allowed to accumulate on floor, marking time.
