Every summer a group of about 50 artists in Hardesty's home town get together to create pieces for public display. In 2005, each of the 50 artists decorated an Adirondack chair, common in the region. Rather than paint it decoratively, Hardesty covered all surfaces of his chair with "bluestone", a gravel also common to the area. His chair was exhibited in front of a bank on Main Street in Honesdale, PA.
